News Advisory: Project Restores the Homes of Those in Need While Providing a Safety Make-Over

Rockville - - The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) is partnering with Rebuilding Together Montgomery County (RTMC) and over 1,000 community volunteers to repair, rehabilitate and provide safety improvements in the homes of 31 low-income homeowners throughout Montgomery County.

RTMC is one of 200 affiliates participating in a nationwide effort to repair 10,000 homes over the weekend. Volunteers from local companies, civic groups and congregations will unite to help area families to install home modifications and make homes safer for area residents.

MCFRS is equipping each of the homes with ten-year smoke alarms and other safety enhancements. Fire officials will present smoke alarms at a press event scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning at 1414 Thorndon Road, Rockville, Maryland.

Rebuilding Together Montgomery County (RTMC) is a non-profit, non-sectarian, volunteer organization dedicated to helping low-income homeowners through home repair. Founded in 1990, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County is one of 200 affiliates of the national organization. RTMC has utilized over 41,000 volunteers in our 21 year history to make needed repairs on over 1589 homes. Volunteers have delivered over $14.8 million in home repairs to the community.
