MCFRS High School Cadet Program - The Montgomery County, Maryland High School Fire Science program is a national award winning one or two year program for high school juniors and seniors to educate and train students to become firefighters and/or emergency medical service (EMS) providers in Montgomery County. Interim Fire Chief Named

Interim Fire Chief Named

Nationwide Search to Choose Permanent Fire Chief

County Executive Isiah Leggett has selected Division Chief Richard Bowers as Interim Fire Chief effective November 1, 2008. County Fire Chief Tom Carr recently announced that he will retire and has accepted a job as Fire Chief in the City of Charleston, South Carolina. Chief Carr will retire from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service at the end of October 2008.

The permanent Fire Chief will be selected through a national search process. In the meantime Chief Carr and Chief Bower’s will work on the transition.
