Special Furry Visitors At Fire Station #17 Training to Help Wounded Warriors

This past Monday, Laytonsville Fire Station #17 went to the dogs – actually puppies! 

These little pups are being trained to one day be life long friends for our wounded warriors!  The group providing the training is called Warrior Canine Connection and they train the pups to assist our wounded warriors who have suffered psychological and physical wounds.   

Part of the puppies training is to be able to work around crowds and loud sounds.  So they were taken on a field trip here to Station #17, as one of their training lessons, which allowed the women and men of MCFRS and Laytonsville Volunteer Fire Department to do our part for our wounded warriors!

The 1st Battalion Challenge Coin

The 1st Battalion, 1st Edition, challenge coin is now available. All proceeds are being split 50/50 between The Don't Panic Foundation and The Wounded Warrior Project.

Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes & Drums Perform for Wounded Warriors

On July 17th members of the Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes & Drums performed for “Marines Helping Marines Foundation” during a cookout at Walter Reed Hospital.

In attendance were Marines and Soldiers who where wounded while protecting our great nation. The cookouts are held every three months to give the service men & women a relaxed atmosphere and a good old fashion Bar-B-Q meal.

A true honor and privilege for us all.

Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes & Drums Honor Wounded Warrior

This past Saturday the Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes and Drums band, along with members of our brother bands in the area, escorted Lance Corporal Michael Martinez to the site of his new modified home. We were proud to play the ceremony that honored a returning warrior who so proudly served his country.

The home was presented to LCpl Martinez at the key ceremony on Saturday and was built by "Home for our Troops", a non-profit organization that provides specially adapted homes for severely wounded veterans at no cost to those veterans.

Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes & Drums Plays For Wounded Warriors

Yesterday, members of the Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes & Drums, along with the Northern Va. Pipes & Drums Band, had the honor and privilege of playing for our wounded warriors, their families, the staff and volunteers at the Wounded Warrior Picnic held at Walter Reed Military Medical Center.

A true honor and privilege for all MCFRS members in attendance to play for these American heros!

MCFRS Personnel Help Out at Bethesda Fisher House’s

Fire Station 34 “A” Shift

Last week fire department personnel from Montgomery County, Washington DC and Northern Virginia stopped by the Fisher Houses in Bethesda to help support our wounded warriors and their families.  The Fisher House is an organization that provides a home away from home for the families of our wounded warriors who are receiving medical care at a nearby military hospital or medical center.

The group provided appetizers, salads, Baked Ziti and dessert for the soldiers and their families that were staying there.  It was an honor and privilege for all involved!

Firefighter Pipes & Drums Plays For Wounded Warrior’s

On Wednesday, September 21, 2011 members of the Montgomery County Fire Fighters Pipes and Drums assisted with "Marines Helping Marines"  http://www.marineshelpingmarines.org/ entertain Wounded Warrior's at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (AKA Navy Med. Hospital). 

An honor and privilege for all pipe and drum members involved.
